Dear Scientists of Division 4,
WELCOME to the unit of OPTICS!!!
You're entering into a world of brilliance, mystery and LOTS of questions.
Now, I understand that this might be a time of adjusting.
So, no worries, we'll take it slow. 😊
But! Don't be too comfy yet, because we will be doing some fun and exciting experiments in the coming weeks.
To complete your science mission of the week, do the following:

GAME PLAN TO LEARN: VIDEO – RESPONSE – HOME SCIENCE
________________________________________________________________________________________
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
[Big Idea] I can understand that energy can be transferred as both a particle and a wave. [Content] I can learn about light as waves and particles. [Curriculum] I can make observations aimed at identifying my own questions about light.
________________________________________________________________________________________
STEP 1: Watch a Video
Watch a TED Ed Video: "Is light a particle or wave? - Colm Kelleher"
STEP 2: Video Response
Download the "Video Response: Is light a particle or a wave?".
Once complete, submit it on Assignments.
STEP 3: Home Science
Do the following experiment and take observation notes:
Place a pencil in a glass of water. (Make sure that one end of the pencil is still outside the water).
Look at the pencil from different angles. What do you notice?
Is there any difference in what you see at different angles?
What can you find out about the properties of light from your observation?
STEP 4: Share Your Findings
In the discussion below, post:
a picture of your experiment
Answers to questions 3 and 4 from STEP 3
STEP 5: Reply to a Peer
Respond to two of your peer's posts on the channel.
Your response can discuss:
What you found interesting about their discussion post.
What you found their experiment observations similar/different from your experiment.
Anything positive you would like to add.
